About me

Hi, I am a Computer Science student from the Netherlands. My main interests are language technologies, in particular Information Retrieval and social media.

I have attended Twente University in the Netherlands, where I completed my Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. In the second year of my bachelor, I won the Echo Beta Techniek Award which allowed me to follow a summercourse linguistics at UCLA. My bachelor thesis was on Query Translation for Cross-lingual Information Retrieval using only Wikipedia. At Twente, I have been involved in the projects MESH, SEMAINE and SoNar.

After my Bachelor, I was a student of the Master Applied Computing Science at Utrecht University. In Utrecht, I worked at a company, which offers a search engine for local search, and as a student assistant for the LTfLL (Language Technologies for Lifelong Learning) project.

Currently I'm a first year student of the M.S. Program in Language Technologies at Carnegie Mellon University. My advisor is Carolyn Rose.
